Me against all Christendom (Calling you)

I am in the oddest of places.  I have found faith in God by attending a local church and in the past been involved in several churches.  Not only was I involved in Sunday school and dramas, I was a youth pastor for several years as well.  But in all of this, I find that I do not agree with the gospel the church sells to people.  What puts me in the oddest of places is, I was drawn to God with the church gospel.  I was not drawn to God by what I read in my bible.

It isn’t that the gospel I find in my bible would not draw me to the Lord, for certainly it would and probably more sincerely.  It is simply a matter of a fact that I never was exposed to the gospel I read.

My blog “The Gospel According to the Gospel” is dedicated to presenting the gospel I find in scripture, defending it and debunking the gospel of the church.  This however puts me up against all of Christendom.  It is literally me against all Christianity.  I as a small voice in a vast arena of voices am trying to change the mindset of the church on what our gospel is.

Is it that I am crazy for thinking that I am right and the rest of Christendom is wrong?  Do I suffer from a messiah complex and try to draw people away?  Is there any bases in scripture for a whole group of people to get something all wrong?  Is there any bases in scripture for all the chosen people of God to miss something, or does scripture show constantly that the body of God’s chosen people always understands, always perceives all things?  Does scripture support mob ideology for the standard of truth or does it support truth?

Even Jesus taught that the people of God as a whole can be totally out in left field, missing what could have been theirs.  Not missing what could have been theirs because it was hidden, but missing what was right in front of their faces.  I too contend that the church misses what should be right in front of our faces, and this being our gospel.  The church proclaims it is the vehicle of the gospel and I contend it is the vehicle of another gospel.  So am I crazy or am I standing up and doing something that will make me distinct from a whole group of people that missed what was right in front of their faces.

Can you think of a whole group of people, that Jesus taught about, who got it all wrong?  Would you want to have been one of the people who got it right?  Even if you were the only one?  If you want to be one of the ones who gets it right, study “The Gospel According to the Gospel”

    • Yes I do. In the past I have tried to engage all my friends and a pastor but nobody wants to engage me. I wanted the challenge to see if they could defend their gospel better than I could present what I read. But they are all to busy or disinterested.

By portion of the blog is a links to those who did debate me, but gave up. Even when I answered them and shown them what they said was lacking, they still went to the way side.

The more I study the more it becomes concrete to me, that I am on the track of the true gospel. I do not know if you have read many of my post. But let me recommend “The Gospel According to the Gospel’. It is a very short overview of the gospel I see in scripture. What I have come to know explains why God wanted to kill Moses. Explains why Jesus only went to preach in the grave to those before Abraham. It also does away with the conflict between the once saved always saved and we can loose our salvation debate.

Do I leave room to be wrong, yes. But I do not see it. Instead I have more resolve to stand my ground and preach what I read in scripture.

      • I agree with the pretense of your currents posts that we as a people are lost as the Bible teaches the Israelites were on more than one occasion. I have read a number of your posts, and have left lengthy comments before as well (same Robert you’ve back and forth’d with recently), I’ve also looked through your debates and book, though not in their entirety. from what I have read, I truly believe you are on the right track in many ways but in the arena of salvation you fall apart and are on a divergent path from the Truth. The one thing I have yet to see anywhere in what I have seen of your blog so far is any concrete definition of salvation. I believe it is in the words hope and salvation you are misinformed, skewing your perspective. Now I’m not saying I’m perfectly right, would never walk with such arrogance, however I admit I am a student learning. As I have mentioned in a previous comment on The Holy Spirit and the Hope of Salvation, I have been looking into the Greek origins of each word. I would love to dialog with you over all this, hopefully help you see the Truth of the gospel of Christ.

        • I am sorry Robert for not dialoging with you as you are hoping and I am desiring. I have limited internet access and have been busy. So please help keep me on task with this dialogue for I am willing.

Please explain again how the word “hope” and the word “salvation” is throwing me off.

I thank you for your diligence.

  1. I rise EARLY each morning…usually 2 or 3 a.m….have coffee around 4 a.m….in the ‘stillness’ and I ‘listen’ to the things of God (‘Be still…and know). So…in that attitude of ‘stillness’ … I read your post around 6 a.m …and allowed the Holy Spirit to discern your words. So the things I am going to say to you are not shared lightly nor will they be anything other than from a heart which desires the Gospel to go forth…in its full PURITY and POWER.

I KNOW the depths of your concern relating to the ‘wrongs’ of the church. You spoke a MONUMENTAL truth when you said, “I have found faith in God by attending a local church.” SO DID I!!! Proof positve that there is ‘good’ purpose in the church. It is for that reason alone that I cannot speak against it in any way. To do so is to cast further doubt, before the world, of its ordained purpose. And Satan and his followers are heaping sufficient tribulation onto the church’s head. You and I both received the Gospel through what is called within christendom…’the church.’ As a parent loves, nourishes, teaches, and releases a child….so does the church…in its small and weak way handle its babes with care. In the case of you and I, I believe, from what you have shared, that the ‘church’ loved, nourished, taught, and released you and me to ‘higher’ things. But without the foundation it gave us….we likely would not be where we are at this moment. And where I believe we are…is a place of growth, of experience, of being shown ‘higher’ things. And once we see those ‘higher’ things….we look at the church and see the many weaknesses…wrongs…and in the case of most churches…the presence of Satan in its congregations. Because of the ‘higher’ knowledge, we see what we could not see before. But the purpose of being given this ‘higher’ knowledge, is not to condemn …but to internalize it and USE it to move ever closer to the goal…righteousness in Christ our Lord. God is GROWING you…because you seek the things of God. Everything you are becoming…has nothing to do with you. But has ALL to do with Him who gives you wisdom and knowledge.

I have been exactly where you are now. I have moved past it. I care every bit as much as you about the ‘wrongs’ in the church. But I have come to the place where I KNOW that God cares more about His Gospel than any man….and that He will perpetuate it…by His power…to its fullest. The Gospel will survive if both you and I die at the next breath. God does not need us to weed the tares from the church….for a very good reason. The magnificent Father of us all….the God who created all things…has total charge of the Gospel. It has not failed. It will NEVER fail! When God said Satan is the accuser of the brethren…He wasn’t kidding. (Re 12:10… for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night). But,,,SATAN IS A LIAR!!! The Gospel of Christ is WORKING!!!! The Gospel is ALIVE!!! The Gospel WILL NEVER DIE!!! It is Satan who accuses and desires to make the Gospel appear fruitless, weak, and flawed. BUT HE IS A LIAR!!! His TACTICS are negativity, focus on what is ‘wrong’ so that the gospel appears to be a failure. DON’T MISUNDERSTAND!! I see, as do you, through the eyes of the Holy Spirit…what is ‘wrong’ with the established ‘church.’ But I also see, through the eyes of the Spirit, that within each congregation…there are the ‘few’ who continue to move towards and gain that ‘higher’ knowledge…..through fellowship with Christ through the Word and through His Holy Spirit. Within that fellowship…fear subsides. The focus is no longer on the ‘wrongs’ but on the ‘rights.’ That focus is called ‘FAITH.’ Faith sees with spiritual eyes. Faith sees the Good. Faith sees the Victory. Faith sees the ‘wrongs’ as fruits of those within christendom who have not yet found ‘truth’….many of whom will NEVER fing Truth..because they are deceived. And according the God’s Word….MANY are and will remain DECEIVED….by their own choice.

My soul is praying without ceasing that the words I share will be received as they are intended. My intention is to glorify God and His Gospel. To reaffirm its POWER to restore those who receive it. And to remind that no power nor spirit can supersede the purposes and plans of God. Therefore, the Gospel has already succeeded in its POWER AND PURPOSE. Whether it be the individuals who have lived and died…whether it be the individuals who currently live…or whether it be individuals who are yet to live and die…..all who desire salvation…WILL FIND IT…THROUGH THE GOSPEL OF GOD.
Please consider these VICTORIOUS verses. Please consider the fact that though the Word says ‘few’ will find it……the ‘few’ are innumerable!!! The following ‘truth’ proves the effectiveness of the Gospel. Jesus showed John a vision of the glorified Body of Christ, Bride, Temple of God…all ‘fruits’ of the GOSPEL which had the POWER to move men from death to LIFE!!! GOD IS ALIVE AND WELL!! HIS GOSPEL IS ALIVE AND WELL!!!

Re 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree

Re 7:2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,

Re 7:3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

Re 7:4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

Re 7:5 Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.

Re 7:6 Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nephthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.

Re 7:7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand.

Re 7:8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.

    Re 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

Re 7:10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.

Re 7:11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,

Re 7:12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.

Re 7:13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?

Re 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Re 7:15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.

Re 7:16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.

Re 7:17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

I realize you likely are offended at what I say. But it is TRUE that you are experiencing GROWTH in wisdom and knowledge. It is the deeper insight into the things of God which is allowing you to SEE things in a perspective akin to how God sees them. The more LIGHT God shines in things…the more their wrongs, flaws, scratches, broken places, and so forth…are seen. But ‘seeing’ those things does not deminish the capacity of the GOSPEL. The Holy Spirit is showing YOU…enlightening YOU…because you desire ‘truth’….the wood, stubble, and hay aspects of what the world calls the ‘church.’ You and I both began our journey there…within the wood, stubble, and hay….as God ordained that we would. And as children grow to adulthood, we, too, are drawn to ‘grow’ from childhood to the fulness of Christ…through dependance on Him…rather than being ‘bottle-fed’ as we were within the small and insignificant ‘community’ we called ‘church.’ God’s Gospel, Church, Grace, Salvation, and so forth…is bigger than any congregation…than any denomination…than any doctrine…than any power…than any MAN.

Re 19:1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:

Re 19:2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

Re 19:3 And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.

Re 19:4 And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia

Re 19:5 And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.

Re 19:6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

Re 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

Re 19:8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

Re 19:9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

Re 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Again, you are likely offended at my words. That’s okay. In time, they will come to your remembrance…and you will hear what I am saying. I thank God for you and others like you who are sincerely seeking God…who sincerely WANT to be ‘in His will.’

Finally, look at one last verseS and KNOW that the GOSPEL which IS Christ the Lamb….IS VICTORIOUS OVER ALL. Know that Purity, Faith, Truth, Righteousness Judgement, Fiery Swords of Eden, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Name sake of God, Blood saoked Vesture (soaked with His own blood which dripped onto it as it lay at the foot of the cross), WORD OF GOD…are ALL part of the SON OF GOD…as reflected in these verses.

Re 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

Re 19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

Re 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

Re 19:6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the LORD GOD OMNIPOTENT REIGNETH!!!!!

Soooooo…I present to you….the Bride of Christ….born out of the successful GOSPEL:

Re 21:9 … saying, Come hither, I will show thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife.

Re 21:10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

Re 21:11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal

Re 21:12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:

Re 21:13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.

Re 21:14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Re 21:15 And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.

Re 21:16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.

Re 21:17 And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.

Re 21:18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.

    Re 21:19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;

Re 21:20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolyte; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.

Re 21:21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

Re 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

Re 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

Re 21:24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.

Re 21:25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.

Re 21:26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.

Re 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

  2. Carolyn,
I know your comments were addressed to Glasseyedave but I do a somewhat similar blog to him and therefore your comments impinge upon me as well. I think you make some good points but are you saying we should lay down “arms” and do nothing? That we should not highlight the wrongs in the church as there is no profit to apologetics and discernment ministry? You know I once read an article which was entitled “Lost in Church” and this highlighted for me that whilst there is a need to preach the truth of the gospel outside the church we need to be ministering to those in the church as well who have established their “faith” upon a wrong doctrine. Again what of the individual preaching the false gospel? Paul says that if anyone preaches a gospel other than that which they had preached then let that individual be accursed. Perhaps then by highlighting the wrongs we may overturn to curse if such a one may turn again and repent. Again do we tell church people to abide under the authority of a false prophet? The scriptures does say we should mark them which cause division and offences amongst you contrary to the gospel. So whilst I can see your point I do think this kind of work that Glasseyedave does is every bit as important as it helps to establish what the true gospel is.
